It's nearly Christmas and if you're anything like us, you've been listening to Christmas songs since mid-November to get in the festive spirit. This, of course, ignites the age-old debate about which Christmas song is the best. You've got the classics like Slade's "Merry Christmas Everyone" and "Last Christmas" by Wham, the ones that almost work all year round like "Fairytale Of New York" and the alternative favourites like "Merry Christmas (I Don't Want To Fight Tonight)" by the Ramones and Run DMC's "Christmas In Hollis". And while we're on the subject, what makes a Christmas song a Christmas song? Do the lyrics have to mention Christmas, or can you just add sleigh bells and call it a day? You could argue (and we have) about the merits of each song until February if you wanted to.
The greatest Christmas song of all time, though, is undeniably Mariah Carey's effort, in which she says, almost convincingly, that all she wants for Christmas is you. And if you believe that, you'll believe anything. But that's not the point.
If the song were rewritten by lettings agents, though, it would be a little different (and not scan as effectively for the singer either). Because as everyone knows, all lettings agents want for Christmas is more instructions. But landlords are getting pretty thin on the ground now, so the job is easier said than done.
It's a constant battle to convince landlords that you can do the best job in managing and protecting their property, and it's becoming ever more vital to the survival of agencies around the country when you take the impending Tenant Fees Bill and the narrowing of revenue streams it will bring with it. You'll therefore need to ensure that you're doing everything possible to win landlords before the Bill's introduction as well as after it so you're in the strongest possible position in your area.
Our new, free tool is designed to help you do just that. It's perfect for use in your quest to win over landlords because it lays out exactly what they should be looking for in a letting agent just like you. For example, agents should be a member of a professional body like ARLA Propertymark, which you can include on your flyer - it's customisable so anything that doesn't reflect your offering can be removed. In this way, you can demonstrate that you meet all of your potential customers' needs.
